Mentoring by Association
As the print industry’s only association that helps distributors grow by cultivating strategic partnerships with manufacturers and suppliers, PSDA supports members in numerous ways. Annual professional development and networking events include the CEO Summit and P2P Technology + Innovation Summit, and PSDA’s many educational assets include the magazine and PostScript.
Ultimately, however, PSDA is about members sharing ideas with fellow members. There are mentoring opportunities galore.
Tressa McLaughlin, president of The SOLV Group and a past president of PSDA, emphasized in a Huffington Post interview how her involvement with PSDA enabled her to find and work with mentors who helped drive her success. “You have to be actively involved in your own career path,” she said. “When you join a company, you must identify one to two people that can help further your career and act as mentors through their own experiences.”
She continued: “You have to network and get involved in your association. Being a part of my industry association, PSDA, has been one of the highlights of my career. It has helped me enormously with finding mentors, understanding the business and learning how to change for the better.”
One way to connect with industry peers is through PSDA’s new Emerging Leaders Committee. It’s a dedicated community for future print industry leaders — a resource network to help build careers, companies and people. For details, visit psda.org/emerging-leaders.
